Description
OT2-5 OTAKI 1/48 Japanese Army Ki-43 Fighter "Oscar"
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa ("Peregrine Falcon") was the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force's primary fighter at the outbreak of the Pacific War, widely used across all theatres from China to Burma to the Dutch East Indies. Light, manoeuvrable, and armed with twin 12.7 mm machine guns, it was an agile opponent but lacked armour and self-sealing fuel tanks, leaving it vulnerable in combat. Allied pilots initially underestimated it, and it received the reporting name "Oscar." Produced in large numbers through to the end of the war, it remained in frontline service well past its prime. Otaki originally tooled this kit in the early 1970s; at release it was among the most detailed 1/48 Japanese Army fighter kits available.
