The Douglas TBD Devastator entered US Navy service in 1937 as the first all metal, low wing monoplane to fly from American carrier decks, and the first with hydraulically folding wings. Advanced when new, it was outclassed by 1942, and the type is best remembered for the torpedo squadrons at Midway, where Torpedo Eight lost every aircraft it launched. This Monogram tooling is the long running 1/48 kit with working features throughout.
