A tooling that dates to 1962 and was one of the better 109E kits available for a long time. The E variant is the Battle of Britain Bf 109 — the version that tangled with Spitfires and Hurricanes over southern England in the summer of 1940, and the one most people picture when they think of the type.

Monogram's 1/48 kit features fine raised rivet detail typical of the era, retractable landing gear, spinning propeller, and a pilot figure. Cockpit is minimal by modern standards — rear bulkhead, armour plate, and pilot, but no floor or instrument panel — though an instrument decal is included. Decals cover a JG 26 aircraft in the standard splinter scheme. A classic American kit of an iconic subject.
