Description
MON5428 - Monogram 1/48 F-80 Shooting Star - WWHP13499
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
The F-80 was the first jet accepted for operational USAF service, and by the time Thunderbolts and Mustangs were bowing out it looked like the future: an Allison J33 centrifugal turbojet, an ejection seat, six .50 calibre guns and better than 550 mph. Korea caught it at the wrong moment against the swept-wing MiG-15, but on 8 November 1950 Lt Russell Brown's F-80C was credited with the first jet versus jet victory in history. This kit represents an F-80C of the 51st Fighter Interceptor Wing.
- 1/48 scale injection moulded plastic kit, moulded in silver
- Removable tail section revealing the Allison J33 engine
- Choice of wing tip tanks and pylon-mounted bombs
- Cockpit with seated pilot figure and clear canopy
- Raised panel line detail, in keeping with the age of the tooling
- Waterslide decals for FT-588 / 9588 "Ila's Pride", including shark mouth tank art, USAF titles, national insignia and stencils
- Multilingual instruction sheet with assembly diagrams and painting guide
