The C-118A was the USAF's military DC-6, a piston engined transport that stayed useful long into the jet age. During the Kennedy and Johnson administrations many airports still could not take the 707 based VC-137C Air Force One, so the President travelled aboard VC-118A tail number 53-3240, which had earlier carried Eisenhower's Secretary of Defense. It received the same two tone presidential scheme as the VC-137C and often flew alongside the jet as a support or backup aircraft. This is Minicraft's 2001 boxing of its 1/144 DC-6 tooling, marked Super 144.
