The Boeing 707 opened the jet age for American carriers, and the -320B Intercontinental was its definitive long haul form, pairing the stretched Intercontinental fuselage with a revised wing and quieter, more efficient turbofans for genuine nonstop transatlantic range. Pan Am was the launch customer for the 707 and flew the type as the backbone of its global network through the 1960s and 1970s. Minicraft's 1/144 kit filled a long standing gap, since for years the only Intercontinental available in the scale was Airfix's much older and far earlier -420.
