The A-V8 is one of the oldest recipes in hot rodding: take a Model A body, drop it on a frame that will accept Ford's flathead V8, and leave the fenders and the stock ride height alone. Running the body on top of the frame rails rather than channelled down over them is what earns the highboy name, and the look defined dry lakes and street rodding from the late 1930s onward. The multi-carburettor flathead with finned aluminium heads, mounted in a 1931 roadster body, is about as pure a statement of the era as the hobby has.
