Description
MATPK-406 - Matchbox 1/72 Tomcat F-14A - WWHP113543
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
Grumman's F-14 entered fleet service in 1974 as the Navy's long range interceptor, built around the AWG-9 radar and the AIM-54 Phoenix, with variable geometry wings that swept back as speed rose. Two Pratt & Whitney TF30s gave it 20,900 lb of thrust each. This is Matchbox's 1983 boxing, moulded in their familiar three colours, and the wings sweep on the finished model just like the real thing.
In the box:
- Sprues in white, grey and black styrene plus a clear sprue for the canopy
- Working variable sweep wings
- Two seat cockpit with crew
- Underwing and fuselage stores: Phoenix, Sidewinder and Sparrow missiles
- Large waterslide decal sheet with three marking options and full stencil data: VF-142 aboard USS America, AJ tail code, with yellow lightning flash; VF-2 aboard USS Enterprise, NK code, in blue and white stars scheme; and VF-32 aboard USS John F. Kennedy, AB code, in yellow
- Instruction sheet with three full colour plans and simpler mini paint plans
