The TF-104G was the two-seat operational trainer variant of the F-104G Starfighter, retaining full combat capability while adding a second cockpit in a lengthened fuselage. The F-104G was the dominant NATO Starfighter variant, widely exported to West Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and other alliance members under the Mutual Defense Assistance Program. The Bundesmarine and Luftwaffe were among the largest operators, and the type's demanding handling characteristics made the two-seat TF-104G essential for conversion training throughout its service life.
