The BAC 167 Strikemaster was a British jet-powered light attack and advanced trainer aircraft, developed by the British Aircraft Corporation as an armed version of the Jet Provost (itself derived from the piston-engined Percival Provost). First flying on 26 October 1967, it added an uprated Viper turbojet, a strengthened airframe, four underwing hardpoints, and rough-strip capability. It won no RAF orders but found strong export success with around 146 built, serving air forces including New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Singapore, and seeing combat in Oman's Dhofar campaign.
