Description
MAQMQ-5000 - Maquette 1/500 R-100 Airship moored at Montreal Mast - WWHP111638
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
The R-100 was a British rigid airship of the late 1920s, built during the brief "golden age" of the great dirigibles and intended for passenger service across the British Empire. Its one and only ocean crossing came in the summer of 1930, when it flew from England to the mooring mast at St-Hubert, near Montreal — a landmark event in Canadian aviation history. The R-100 was withdrawn and scrapped in 1931 following the loss of its sister ship R-101. This kit depicts the airship (registration G-FAAV) alongside the Montreal mooring mast and its base building.
Box contents:
- White-moulded plastic sprues (airship halves, fins, engine cars, mooring tower and base building)
- Metal mounting rod (to support the airship on the mast)
- Waterslide decal sheet (R-100 / G-FAAV markings)
- Printed assembly + painting instructions
Requires cement and paint. Produces a large display piece even at 1/500. The airship itself is straightforward; the mooring tower and base are the fiddlier parts of the build.
