The 1955 Buick Century was one of the standout designs of the mid-fifties American automobile boom, combining the lighter Buick Special body with the more powerful Roadmaster V8 engine to produce one of the quickest cars in its class. Its wraparound windshield, sweeping chrome trim, and two-tone colour schemes epitomised the optimism of postwar American automotive design. The Century nameplate had been revived by Buick in 1954 after a 15-year absence and quickly became a favourite of performance-minded buyers.
