The General Dynamics F-16 was the winner of the U.S. Air Force's Lightweight Fighter competition and went on to become one of the most widely produced jet fighters in history, serving the USAF and NATO air forces for decades. This kit dates from the type's earliest days — the box still describes the F-16 as "scheduled for early operational duty," and the artwork and markings depict the YF-16 prototype in its distinctive red/white/blue scheme. This is Hasegawa's original 1976 tooling (kit B21 / JS-110), in the late-1970s Minicraft-distributed US boxing.
