Description

MAG6572 - Magna Models 1/72 Blackburn Beverley C1 XM109 84 Squadron Khormaksar 1966 - WWHP113736

Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn

The Blackburn Beverley began as the General Aircraft GAL 60 heavy freighter, and Blackburn took over the design after the two companies merged in 1949. It entered RAF service in 1956 and was the largest aircraft the RAF had flown up to then. Four Bristol Centaurus radials drove reversible-pitch propellers, which let it land in remarkably short distances on rough desert airstrips. The Beverley had a huge cargo hold with removable clamshell doors and passenger seating in the tail boom. Squadrons flew it from Abingdon and Dishforth to Aden, Bahrain and Singapore, and No. 84 Squadron at Khormaksar flew it in desert camouflage until the Hercules replaced it in 1967.
