LINHL413/12 - Lindberg 1/172 B-70 SAC Delta Wing - WWWEB10113245
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
In the late 1950s, the US Air Force’s Strategic Air Command wanted a bomber that could cruise at Mach 3 at very high altitude, fast enough to outrun Soviet interceptors. North American Aviation won the contract with the B-70 Valkyrie, a huge delta-wing design with drooping wingtips that let it “ride its own shock wave.” Defence cuts and the rise of intercontinental missiles ended the bomber programme. Only two XB-70A research aircraft were built, and the surviving one is at the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. Paul Lindberg’s kit dates from the early days of the programme, before the final design was revealed, so it captures how the B-70 was imagined at the time. This “Lindberg Line” reissue brings back the original box art and tooling.
