The original Lincoln Continental started out as a one-off custom built for Edsel Ford in 1939, styled by E.T. “Bob” Gregorie. It drew so much attention that Lincoln put it into production. After the Second World War, the 1946 to 1948 Continentals got a bolder, more massive chrome grille, and they kept the long bonnet, short deck and the signature “continental” spare wheel mounted outside the boot. They were powered by Lincoln’s V12, the last American production V12 of the era. The 1948 Continental was the final year for the original design, and in 1951 the Museum of Modern Art named it one of the eight outstanding cars ever built. This Lindberg kit builds the 1948 convertible with its white top and whitewall tires.
