KYA72007 - Karaya 1/72 Fairey F.17 "Campania" - WWHP113759
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
The Fairey Campania is widely regarded as the first aircraft designed specifically to operate from an aircraft carrier. It was built for HMS Campania, a former Cunard ocean liner that the Royal Navy converted into a seaplane carrier with a flying-off deck over the bow. The Campania was a large two-seat patrol seaplane powered by a Rolls-Royce Eagle V-12. It took off from the ship’s deck on a wheeled trolley and landed back on its floats, flying reconnaissance and anti-submarine patrols over the North Sea and the English Channel in 1917 and 1918. Only 62 were built, which makes this Karaya kit a rare chance to model an early milestone in naval aviation.
