Description

KPM0101 - Kovozavody Prostejov 1/72 de Havilland DH-88 Comet - WWHP113559

Preowned, Resealed, Mint

The DH.88 Comet was built for one purpose: to win the 1934 MacRobertson air race from England to Australia, which it did in the hands of Scott and Campbell Black. Its wooden stressed-skin construction, retractable undercarriage and slim twin-engine layout set records through the 1930s and pointed the way to the Mosquito. Only five were built, and this boxing covers the survivors in military and foreign hands at the end of the decade.

Box contents:

  • Grey injection moulded sprues
  • Clear parts for the cockpit glazing
  • Waterslide decals for three aircraft: E-109 of the French Air Force, 1939, in overall red; K-5084 tested by the RAF in 1939, in overall silver; and CS-AAJ "Salazar" of Portugal, 1939, in overall black
  • Illustrated instruction sheet with colour and marking guide
