Preowned, Resealed, Some parts off sprue,, Decals useable but need work, Box worn
The Battle of Britain class were Oliver Bulleid’s “light Pacific” express locomotives, built for the Southern Railway from 1945. Their air-smoothed casing earned them the nickname “Spam cans.” They and the near-identical West Country class worked express services across the south of England, and the Battle of Britain engines were named after the RAF squadrons, airfields, aircraft and commanders of 1940. No. 34057 “Biggin Hill” honoured the famous Kent fighter station and stayed in service until 1967, near the end of Southern steam. Rosebud Dolls of Raunds, Northamptonshire produced the Kitmaster range from 1959 to 1962. It was one of the first ranges of plastic railway kits, and after Kitmaster closed, Airfix bought the moulds. Original Kitmaster kits like this are now prized by railway modellers and kit collectors.
- Black plastic parts covering the air-smoothed casing halves, smokebox, cab, tender body, chassis, frames and valve gear, with some parts already removed from the sprue. (All loose sprues are bagged)
- Driving wheels, bogie wheels and tender wheels, with moving parts so the model can run on OO and HO gauge track
- Decals for the “Biggin Hill” nameplates, RAF squadron crests and BR emblems. The decals are usable but will need some work.
- Folded assembly instructions for the “Battle of Britain” class locomotive, with history of the British Railways (Southern Region) class
- Original Kitmaster complaint slip
- 1/76 scale (OO gauge), Kitmaster No. 11, made in England
