Description
KITKH80147 - Kitty Hawk 1/48 Sukhoi Su-17/22UM-3K - WWHP111422
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Sukhoi Su-17 (NATO: Fitter) was a variable-sweep wing fighter-bomber developed from the Su-7, entering Soviet service in 1970 and exported widely as the Su-20 and Su-22. The Su-17UM3 and its export equivalent the Su-22UM3K are two-seat trainer variants, retaining full weapons capability while adding a rear instructor cockpit in place of the forward fuselage fuel tank. A retractable periscope on the rear canopy compensated for the reduced forward visibility from the back seat. Both variants share the AL-21F engine and the taller squared-off vertical tail of the late M3/M4 airframe.
This is the third boxing in Kitty Hawk's 1/48 Fitter family, completing their coverage of the late-variant series alongside KH80144 and KH80146.
