Description
ITA2843 - Italeri 1/48 Spitfire Mk IX Aces - WWHP113797
Preowned, Original seal, Box worn
Supermarine’s Spitfire Mk.IX started as a stopgap. When the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 began outclassing the Mk.V in 1942, Supermarine fitted the two-stage supercharged Merlin 61 into the Mk.V airframe. The result was so effective that more than 5,600 were built, more than any other Spitfire mark. This Italeri WWII Aces kit features five famous Allied aces who flew it, and two of them have strong Canadian connections. Johnnie Johnson led the RCAF’s Kenley Wing. Montreal’s George “Buzz” Beurling, nicknamed the “Falcon of Malta,” was Canada’s top-scoring ace of the war.
