The Panavia Tornado was a three nation answer to the same problem, a swing wing strike aircraft that could get in under radar at very low level with a heavy load and terrain following radar to keep it there. Britain, West Germany and Italy all built and flew it, and the IDS variant did the dangerous work in the 1991 Gulf War, hitting Iraqi airfields at low altitude with JP233 runway denial weapons. German Marineflieger examples flew maritime strike from the Baltic coast, and the box art aircraft wears the Marineflieger 90th anniversary scheme.
