The Polikarpov I-5 was a single-seat biplane fighter that became the standard Soviet fighter of the early 1930s, designed by Nikolai Polikarpov and Dmitri Grigorovich and first flown in 1930. Several hundred were built, and although obsolete by the late 1930s, a number were pressed into service as light ground-attack aircraft during the opening months of the German invasion in 1941. This ICM tooling includes markings for an early-1930s aircraft in natural aluminium finish and a camouflaged example from 1941.
