Developed by Renault in 1939 as part of the AN series cabover trucks for the French Army, the 3.5-tonne AHN was powered by a six-cylinder engine with rear-wheel drive only. Following France's defeat, production continued from March 1941 under German occupation administration, with roughly 4,000 vehicles built through 1944. The Wehrmacht pressed AHN trucks into service across all branches and theatres — the Eastern Front, Italy, and France — making them a common sight in German logistical operations throughout the war.
