ICM14405 - ICM - 1/144 Ilyushin IL-62M - WWHP113794
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Ilyushin Il-62 was the Soviet Union’s first long-range jet airliner. It first flew on 2 January 1963 and went into production in 1966. Its four engines were mounted in pairs on the rear fuselage, much like the British Vickers VC10. The improved Il-62M entered service in 1973 with more efficient Soloviev D-30KU engines and a range of over 11,000 km, and about 190 were built. It served for decades as Aeroflot’s long-haul flagship and was exported throughout the socialist bloc. This ICM kit builds the Il-62M in Aeroflot colours, with markings for Soviet-era and Russian aircraft, including the “Official Olympic Carrier” titles from the 1980 Moscow Games.
