The Gotha G.V was the definitive version of the Gothaer Waggonfabrik heavy bomber that gave its name to the German raids on London in 1917 and 1918. It moved the fuel tanks from the engine nacelles into the fuselage after crash fires proved a serious problem on the earlier G.IV, and the smaller nacelles were carried on struts above the lower wing with all bombs slung externally. Powered by two Mercedes D.IVa engines, 205 were built and the type worked mainly as a night bomber.
