The McLaren MP4/3 was the team's 1987 challenger, powered by the TAG-Porsche TTE PO1 turbocharged V6 and driven by Alain Prost (#11) and Stefan Johansson (#12). Prost won three races that year but finished third in the Drivers' Championship behind Piquet and Mansell. The MP4/3 retained the Marlboro red-and-white livery that had become synonymous with McLaren throughout the 1980s.
