HOBHC1578 - Hobbycraft 1/48 Vampire Night Fighter - Preowned116166
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
The de Havilland Vampire NF.10 was the first all-jet night fighter to enter operational service with the Royal Air Force, introduced in 1951. Built on the twin-boom Vampire airframe, the NF.10 added a side-by-side two-seat cockpit with an elongated nose housing the AI Mk.10 airborne intercept radar, replacing the single-seat fighter configuration. It served primarily in the night and all-weather interception role until superseded by the Venom NF.2 in the mid-1950s. Italy's Aeronautica Militare also operated the type. Hobbycraft released their 1/48 Vampire series in the early 1990s, the first injection-moulded kits of the Vampire in quarter scale; the series has attracted some criticism for tail boom dimensions but builds into a distinctive and unusual subject.
