The original Land-Wasser-Schlepper was an unarmoured amphibious tractor developed for the planned invasion of Britain, towing a floating trailer to move cargo from ship to shore. The follow on design kept the boat shaped hull but mounted it on Panzer IV running gear with a lightly armoured superstructure, and was intended to work in pairs carrying a pontoon between them so a tank could be ferried across. Two prototypes were built and trialled before the programme was cancelled in 1942.
