HASWL.E090 - Hasegawa 1/700 Hikawamaru Japanese Hospital Ship - WWHP111764
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Hikawa Maru was an NYK (Nippon Yusen Kaisha) ocean liner launched in 1929 and known as the "Queen of the Pacific" for her Art Deco interiors and celebrity passengers, including Charlie Chaplin. During the Second World War she served as a hospital ship and was one of the few large Japanese passenger vessels to survive the conflict, and she is preserved today as a museum ship in Yokohama. This boxing depicts her in her wartime hospital ship configuration with the green hull band and red crosses. It is Hasegawa's vintage 600-yen Water Line Series issue, tooled in 1979.
