The Leopard 2 is a West German main battle tank developed by Krauss-Maffei as the successor to the Leopard 1, entering Bundeswehr service in 1979. It mounts a 120mm Rheinmetall smoothbore gun with a computerised fire-control system, is powered by a multi-fuel diesel, and combines high mobility with composite armour protection. It went on to become one of the most widely adopted MBTs across NATO and allied armies. This kit represents an early-production Leopard 2 with the flat turret front, from Hasegawa's Army in Action series (1986 tooling).
