Description

Hasegawa 1/24 Isuzu Bellett 1600GT (1969)

The Isuzu Bellett is a Japanese passenger car belonging to the lower-middle class, which was first presented to the general public in 1963. Its serial production started in the same year and continued until 1973. The car was powered by one of the gasoline or diesel engines - depending on the version - with a capacity of 1.3 to 2.0 liters. Either a 3-speed automatic gearbox or a 4-speed manual gearbox was responsible for the transmission. The car was produced mainly in Japan at the factories in the city of Fujisawa. About 170,000 units of this model were built in the course of production.

The Bellett model was developed and put into mass production by the Isuzu Motors Limited automotive concern as a successor to the Hillmann Minx model, which in turn was produced under the license of the British company Rootes Group. Compared to its predecessor, the Bellett model differed in many elements - primarily the styling of the body and passenger compartment, increased travel comfort, but also a wider range of available power units. Interestingly, it was dedicated above all to the domestic automotive market, and the Isuzu company did not plan to export it. The Bellet model was replaced in the company's offer by Isuzu Gemini.
