Description
D021 - Hasegawa 1/72 Northrop F-20 Tigershark - WWHP112237
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
Northrop developed the F-20 Tigershark as the last and most powerful member of the F-5 family. It replaced the twin J85 engines with a single General Electric F404, which gave it far better performance, and added modern radar and avionics. The F-20 first flew in August 1982 and impressed everyone who flew it, but it was aimed at export customers, and they wanted the F-16 that the US Air Force itself was buying. Only three prototypes were built, two were lost in crashes, and the programme ended in 1986 without a single order. That makes it one of the great “what ifs” of Cold War aviation. Hasegawa’s kit shows it in the prototype’s grey scheme with “F-20 Tigershark” titles.
