Description
HASC12 - Hasegawa 1/72 F-16N Top Gun - WWHP111523
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The General Dynamics F-16N was a dedicated adversary aircraft developed for the U.S. Navy's Naval Fighter Weapons School (NFWS) — better known as Top Gun — at NAS Miramar. Based on the F-16C Block 30 airframe, it was stripped of its fire control radar and fixed armament to reduce weight and improve agility, making it an effective simulator of Soviet-generation fighters for dissimilar air combat training. Twenty-six F-16Ns and four two-seat TF-16Ns were delivered to the Navy beginning in 1987, serving with NFWS and three fleet adversary squadrons until airframe fatigue issues forced their retirement in the early 1990s.
