The F/A-18A Hornet entered US Navy fleet service in the early 1980s, a single-seat strike fighter able to switch between air-to-air and ground attack missions on the same sortie. Each carrier air wing's commander traditionally flies a "CAG bird" in special colours, and the Hornets of VFA-113 "Stingers" wore some of the brightest, with a rainbow tail sweep across the fin. This 1990 limited edition from Hasegawa captures the colourful CAG markings of two Navy squadrons.
