Lufthansa launched the Airbus A321 and put the stretched A320 derivative into service in 1994, gaining roughly forty extra seats over the A320 while keeping a common type rating across the family. The box art aircraft is D-AIRB Baden-Baden, an IAE V2500 powered A321-131 from the airline's first batch. This is Hasegawa's 2001 Lufthansa release of its 1/200 A321 tooling, made in Japan, building to 222.5 mm long with a 170.5 mm span.
