The Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden-Kai was a land-based development of the N1K1 floatplane fighter, redesigned from the ground up with a low-mounted wing and simplified undercarriage to address the handling problems of its predecessor. Considered one of the finest Japanese fighters of the Pacific War, the Shiden-Kai was capable of matching the F6F Hellcat and could out-turn the F4U Corsair at low and medium altitudes. Released in 2013 as a new-tool kit, this is Hasegawa's 1/32 scale interpretation of the type, offering large-scale detail in a subject rarely tackled at this size.
