Description
HAS07331 - Hasegawa 1/48 Nakajima Ki-44I Type 2 Fighter Shoki (Tojo) w/Contrarotating Propellers - WWHP111916
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki ("Demon"), codenamed "Tojo" by the Allies, was Japan's dedicated high-speed interceptor, designed from the outset for climb rate and speed rather than the maneuverability that characterized the Zero. First flown in 1940, the Ki-44 was powered by the Nakajima Ha-41 radial engine and proved a capable defender against Allied bombers over the home islands and occupied territories. This limited edition kit depicts an experimental Ki-44-I testbed fitted with contra-rotating propellers, trialed in 1943 to evaluate whether the configuration could better exploit engine power output.
