Description
HAS07244 - Hasegawa 1/48 F-16F Block 60 Fighting Falcon
The F-16E (single seat) and F-16F (two seat) are a special version of the Fighting Falcon developed exclusively for the United Arab Emirates, sometimes unofficially called the "Desert Falcon." Block 60 is based on the F-16C/D Block 50/52 but features improved radar, avionics, and conformal fuel tanks, and has only been sold to the UAE. The UAE funded the entire $3 billion Block 60 development cost, and in exchange receives royalties if any Block 60 aircraft are sold to other nations — making this arguably the most capable production F-16 variant ever built. The Block 60 features the AN/APG-80 active electronically scanned array radar, conformal fuel tanks providing an additional 450 US gallons of internal fuel, and a MIL-STD-1773 fibre-optic data bus offering a 1,000-fold increase in data-handling capability over earlier variants.
Hasegawa based this release on their F-16D kit with new-tool sprues to render the F-16F-specific features, including the dorsal spine air scoop, conformal fuel tank bulges, dedicated camera pod, and associated pylons.
