Description
HAS07232 - Hasegawa 1/48 F-16CJ Fighting Falcon Misawa Japan
The F-16CJ is the unofficial designation for Block 50/52 versions of the F-16C configured for the Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) mission, replacing the earlier F-4G Wild Weasel in U.S. service. Its defining feature is the AN/ASQ-213 HARM Targeting System (HTS) pod, mounted on the intake, which passively detects and classifies hostile radar emissions to enable targeting with the AGM-88 High-speed Anti-Radiation Missile. The 35th Fighter Wing at Misawa Air Base, Japan — the Air Force's self-described premier Wild Weasel organisation — operated F-16CJ Block 50s in the SEAD/DEAD role, with the 13th and 14th Fighter Squadrons as its primary flying units. The 35th Fighter Wing's F-16CJs proved their worth across multiple theatres including Southwest Asia, before the wing began transitioning to the F-35A.
