The Heinkel He 111 was the Luftwaffe's principal medium bomber through the early years of the Second World War, seeing action from the Spanish Civil War through the Battle of Britain and the Eastern Front. The H-6 was one of the most produced variants, powered by two Junkers Jumo 211F engines producing 1,340hp each and capable of carrying both conventional bombs and torpedoes, making it a versatile strike platform. With over 7,000 He 111s built across all variants, it remained in Luftwaffe service until the end of the war despite becoming increasingly vulnerable to Allied fighter defenses.
