The Boeing KC-46A Pegasus is the US Air Force’s newest aerial refuelling tanker, developed from the Boeing 767 airframe and fitted with a fly-by-wire refuelling boom and a remote vision system. The 157th Air Refueling Wing at Pease Air National Guard Base, New Hampshire, was the first Air National Guard unit to fly the type. This aircraft carries a striking flag tail designed by USAF veteran and aviation artist Shayne Meder, known as “Flygirlpainter”, who has painted tail and nose art for the US military pro bono for years. With “NEW HAMPSHIRE” titles and the state motto “LIVE FREE OR DIE” on the fuselage, it’s one of the most eye-catching tankers in service.
