Journal Tactica: Zone Mortalis is a 48-page softback supplement for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Age of Darkness, expanding the Zone Mortalis rules previously available as a free PDF download into a full printed edition. The book covers close-quarters battles fought in confined interior environments: tunnels, void ship corridors, bunker outposts, and hive city interiors where infantry dominates and barrage weapons are ruled out. Contents include updated Zone Mortalis Core Rules covering battlefield features, doors, stairways, and environmental hazards; new Reserves Stratagems (Reinforcements, Forced March, Encirclement, Flanking Force, Teleport Strike, and Mass Elevator deployment); new Advanced Reactions; three new Zone Mortalis Primary Detachments; and new missions including the Sector Domination secondary objective. New army list profiles are provided for Veteran Despoiler Squads and Veteran Breacher Squads (Legiones Astartes), Veletaris Raider Sections and Auxilia Combat Technician Sections (Solar Auxilia), and the Castellax Infernus Maniple (Mechanicum). Optional Advanced Battle rules cover deteriorating battlefield structures and Unknown Enemy auspex-signal mechanics.
