USS Missouri (BB-63) was the last Iowa-class battleship commissioned (June 1944) and the site of the Japanese Instrument of Surrender on September 2, 1945 — one of the most historically significant events of the 20th century. She served in WWII, Korea, and was modernised and reactivated for the Gulf War, firing her 16-inch guns in combat for the last time in 1991 before final decommissioning in 1992. She is now preserved as a museum ship at Pearl Harbor, adjacent to the USS Arizona Memorial.
