FUJ35115 - Fujimi 1/72 MiG29 Fulcrum - WWHP113767
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Mikoyan MiG-29 “Fulcrum” was the Soviet Union’s answer to the American F-16 and F/A-18. It was designed for agility in close-in dogfighting, with twin Tumansky R-33D turbofans and a top speed of Mach 2.3. Its intakes could close in flight on rough runways, with louvres above the wing roots feeding the engines instead, to stop debris being sucked in on take-off and landing. The West got its first close look at the Fulcrum when six MiG-29s visited Finland in July 1986. As glasnost opened up Soviet aviation, the type became an airshow star. In 1991 the Strizhi (“Swifts”) aerobatic team formed at Kubinka near Moscow, flying MiG-29s in a striking white and blue scheme, and the team still flies today. Fujimi released this kit in 1991 with the team’s markings.
- White plastic sprues covering the fuselage, wings, twin fins, intakes and undercarriage
- Clear canopy and windscreen parts
- Large decal sheet with the Strizhi team’s blue scheme, including the fin, wing and fuselage panels, red stars, tail numbers 42, 43, 44 and 46, and the team’s bird emblem
- Multilingual instruction booklet with history, specifications and FS paint references
- Weapons parts are on the sprues but are not used for the display team build
