The 348 replaced the 328 in 1989 and moved Ferrari's mid-engine V8 to a longitudinal layout with a transverse gearbox, the same thinking as the 1980s Formula 1 cars. The 3.4 litre V8 made 300 hp, and the side strakes were a deliberate nod to the Testarossa. The ts is the targa version with a lift out roof panel, and it stayed in production until the 355 arrived in 1994.
