The Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole arrived in 1985 with the V12 bored and stroked to 5,167cc and given four valves per cylinder, hence the name. In carburetted European form it produced 455 hp at 7,000 rpm through a five speed gearbox, with double wishbone suspension at both ends and the staggered wheel and tyre sizes the car was known for. The Special designation covers the version fitted with the optional rear wing, which cost performance but became the shape most people picture when they think of a Countach.
