FRGF239 - Frog 1/72 D.H. Hornet F.Mk.3 - WWHP111306
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
The de Havilland Hornet was the RAF’s last piston-engined fighter, and also its fastest. It drew on the wooden construction of the Mosquito, but it was a slimmer, single-seat long-range fighter built for the war against Japan in the Pacific. The war ended before it could see action there. Its two Rolls-Royce Merlin 130/131 engines turned in opposite directions, giving it a top speed of about 472 mph, and it carried four 20 mm cannon. The F.Mk.3 added more fuel and range. It served with RAF Fighter Command at home and later flew ground-attack missions against insurgents in the Malayan Emergency. This classic Frog Red Series kit, made in Great Britain by Rovex Tri-ang, builds one of two Church Fenton-based Hornets from 1950.
