Description
FRGF164 - Frog 1/72 Supermarine S.6B - PREOWNED117665
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
R.J. Mitchell designed the Supermarine S.6B as Britain's entry for the 1931 Schneider Trophy, and it was powered by a 2,350 hp Rolls-Royce R V12. In September 1931 Flt Lt John Boothman flew S1595 to victory over the Solent, which won the trophy outright for Britain. A few weeks later Flt Lt George Stainforth set a world air speed record of over 400 mph in S1596. What Mitchell and Rolls-Royce learned from the racer fed directly into the Spitfire and the Merlin engine.
