EMHEM1001 - Emhar 1/72 North American FJ-4B Fury - PREOWNED10118563
Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn
The North American FJ-4 Fury shared its name with the FJ-2 and FJ-3, which were navalized versions of the F-86 Sabre, but it was almost a completely new aircraft. It had a thinner wing, a deeper fuselage that held more fuel, and an uprated Wright J65 engine producing 7,700 lb of thrust. The FJ-4B, which first flew in December 1956, was built mainly for attack rather than interception. It had a strengthened wing with six underwing pylons and could carry Bullpup missiles, Sidewinders, bombs, rockets or drop tanks. It could also deliver a nuclear weapon, which made it one of the Navy’s first light nuclear-strike jets. North American built 222 FJ-4Bs, and in 1962 they were redesignated AF-1E. This Emhar kit, made in England, includes markings for two U.S. Navy attack squadrons.
